If you are looking for something to do with the children this February half term, look no further.

There is a huge amount going on at Watts Gallery – Artists’ Village over the half term break.

Inspired by our current exhibition Christina Rossetti: Vision & Verse (on until March 17), you can discover the playful poetry and fairy-tale characters that she created.

You and your children can make shadow puppet characters to create scenes alongside poems using an overhead projector with Puppets, Poetry & Projections.

You will be inspired by the stories and characters in Christina Rossetti’s poetry to create live animation. This drop-in activity runs from 10am to 4pm from Tuesday, February 19 to Sunday, February 24 and is free with admission (standard adult ticket £11.50, under 16s go free).

You can also hear stories inspired by Christina Rossetti’s ‘Sing Song’ poems for children. Join in with songs and rhymes featuring fun characters like the pig in the wig!

This activity is recommended for under fives and takes place on Thursday, February 21 and Friday, February 22, with sessions at 10.30am, 11.30am, 1.30pm and 2.30pm. Free with admission (standard adult ticket £11.50, under 16s go free).

Why not grab a bite of poetry at the Poetry Takeaway van – serving fresh poems to order on Saturday and Sunday, February 23 and 24 from 11am to 4pm. This drop-in activity is free with admission (standard adult ticket £11.50, under 16s go free).

Make terracotta clay goblins at Watts Gallery – Artists Village.

Again, inspired by Christina Rossetti’s poem Goblin Market, you can sculpt a goblin or other fairy-tale creature out of terracotta clay.

This activity is for ages eight to 12 and takes place Tuesday to Sunday, February 19 to 24, with sessions from 10.30am to 12.30pm or 2 to 4pm. Visit the Watts Gallery – Artists’ Village website to book your tickets (£9.50 per child, friends £8.55).

If you want more information about any of the activities during the half term or at any other time, visit the Watts Gallery – Artists’ Village website to pre-book admission or just phone us on 01483 810235.

We are looking forward to seeing you again and again!
