To celebrate the town regaining Purple Flag accreditation for the sixth year and the end of Purple Flag month, Experience Guildford is putting on a treasure hunt with a difference this Halloween.
Head into town between October 31 to November 2, take a tour of five of the town’s key nightspots and solve the clues of the Experience Guildford Purple Pumpkin Pub Trail.
Visit each of the pubs on the trail list, hunt down the Purple Pumpkin and make a note of the letter it contains. Put all the letters together at the end of the trail to solve the Purple Flag word puzzle and be in with a chance of winning a prize.
Pick up an answer sheet and instructions from any of the participating pubs:
The Purple Flag accreditation is similar to Blue Flag for beaches or Green Flag for parks. It’s a mark people can trust when choosing a night-time venue to visit.
In September this year, Guildford was awarded its sixth consecutive Purple Flag accreditation, giving visitor seeking a night out they can have confidence in Guildford providing a vibrant, varied and safe evening.
As the only town in Surrey to have gained and maintained this accreditation, initiatives such as the Experience Guildford Purple Pumpkin Pub Trail go a long way in demonstrating to visitors and residents of Guildford that it takes their safety seriously and continues to invest and support a thriving and collaborative night-time economy.

The Guildford Town Purple Flag Partnership Group (GTPFP) is led by Guildford Borough Council and Experience Guildford (the town’s Business Improvement District) and includes a range of town and county organisations, including Surrey Police, the Safer Guildford Partnership, Street Angels and Guildford Pub Watch.
Experience Guildford is the Business Improvement District representing retail and leisure businesses within Guildford town centre.
Launched in February 2013, it consists of 564 levy payers who have come together to decide and manage any additional improvements they want to make to the town centre.
