If you are looking to see what nature has to offer by way of glorious colours this autumn, head to Winkworth Arboretum near Godalming.
This hillside arboretum, maintained by the National Trust for 60 years, has a wonderful collection of more than 1,000 different shrubs and trees, many of them rare.
It is once again looking truly resplendent at the moment, but hurry as the many coloured leaves are starting to fall – particularly its collection of acers.
The arboretum is currently open every day from 10am to 4pm (last admission 3.30pm). Be careful to time your visit by hopefully dodging the showers we are currently experiencing.
These pictures were taken on Tuesday morning (November 4), while the sun was shining, but by the afternoon the heavens opened!
Weather forecasts for the rest of the week predict some sunshine breaking through the cloud – but keep an eye out for rain.
