Hear About New Project That’s Helping People To Become Volunteers

A new initiative called Welcome to Volunteering! is having its formal launch on Monday, July 15, where people are being invited to hear all about the project.

Welcome to Volunteering!Volunteering promotes wellbeing. But finding voluntary work isn’t always easy. Especially for those facing challenges around, for example, confidence, mental or physical health, learning difficulties, or a history of offending.

Welcome to Volunteering!, being run by Voluntary Action South West Surrey, supports anyone facing challenges getting into voluntary work. It provides taster or longer term placements, volunteer mentors, help with interviews, and short learning sessions on, for example, confidence building and customer care.

The launch takes place at St Saviour’s Church in Guildford on July 15 between 10am and noon. There will be Danish pastries and opportunities to hear about the project and help develop it. If you want to, at the end of the morning, you can also join a ‘bite sized’ learning session for mentors.

There are only 50 places. To request one, hear more about the project or offer support, email Nigel Smallbone at n.smallbone@vasws.org.uk
