Keeping You Safe and Moving: Highways Highlights 2024

As we start the new year, we wanted to share some our achievements we have accomplished since April 2024. Thanks to the dedication of our teams, we’ve made significant improvements across Surrey, ensuring safer journeys for residents and visitors alike. Here are some of the key achievements:

Road Markings

Our lining teams have been busy keeping Surrey’s roads clearly marked and safe:

  • 14,690 letters, numbers, and symbols painted
  • Over 665,000 meters of white lines refreshed

Carriageway Improvements

We’ve completed 182 carriageway schemes, improving miles of our road network. These upgrades not only enhance driving conditions but also extend the lifespan of our roads.

Footway Upgrades

Our commitment to pedestrian safety and accessibility is evident in the 82 footway schemes completed this year.

Tackling Defects

To address areas with multiple defects, we’ve carried out 193 large patches schemes. Additionally, our teams have repaired an incredible 39,558 potholes since April.

Supporting Public Transport

Public transport continues to thrive in Surrey, with over 18 million bus passengers recorded this year.

Keeping You Safe This Winter

Our work doesn’t stop there as we continue to work 24/7 to ensure roads and footways remain safe during winter. Whether it’s gritting icy roads, repairing urgent defects, or keeping bus services running smoothly, we’re here to keep you safe and the network moving.
