A police investigation of offences alleged to have been committed by Guildford Borough Councillor Monika Juneja has been extended. It has also emerged that she has been re-interviewed by police officers in connection with further fraud offences.
A police spokesperson said: “A 35 year-old woman from Guildford who was arrested on 7 May on suspicion of committing the criminal offences of wilfully pretending to be a barrister, making and using false instruments, and misconduct in a public office was further arrested for fraud offences when she was interviewed by officers on 20 June 2014. The woman has been rebailed until 29 July 2014 and the investigation remains ongoing.”
Cllr Juneja is a Conservative borough councillor for Burpham. She is also the lead councillor for planning and has become prominent while progressing the draft Local Plan through its evidence gathering, draft and consultation stages. She is also the deputy leader of the Conservative Group at Millmead council offices.
