The poppies and scabious now in flower on the roundabout at the junction of Parkway, London Road and Boxgrove Road must be the prettiest in Guildford.
The swath of planting, in the style of a traditional wild flower meadow, is now looking superb as these photos taken last week show.
Congratulations go to Guildford Borough Council’s parks and countryside services team who, it is believed, is responsible for an inspired piece of sowing!

Absolutely stunning, it’s true. Please could we have more roundabouts so adorned!

Admittedly a different scale, but the dirty, concrete dome in the centre of the roundabout at the junction of Guildford Park Road and Farnham Road, just to the West of Guildford Station is a disgrace.
This is a “Welcome to Guildford” for visitors arriving from the West of which we can rightly be ashamed. It has been like this for a long time.
Are there any plans to make this small, very busy roundabout a treat for the eyes rather than just an eyesore?

The problem with the mini roundabout that Lorimer refers to is that many drivers manage to drive right over it! I agree it is an eyesore, and I would hope that any plans for a new railway station and a new road layout on the west side of the track would include making this a more pleasing sight as you drive into town.
