Judicial Review of Guildford’s Local Plan Starts Today

The High Court sits at the Royal Courts of Justice on The Strand, London.

The Judicial Review of GBC’s adoption of Guildford’s Local Plan commences today (November 5). The review will consider the process followed by the council and the planning inspector rather than the merits of the plan.

GBC passed a motion to adopt the plan at an extraordinary full council meeting, one week before the borough council election in May, the council’s QC assuring the meeting of the legality of making the decision at that time.

The hearing, conducted by judge Sir Duncan Ouseley at the High Court in London, is expected to take three days.

The Judicial Review was obtained by Compton Parish Council, Ockham Parish Council and Clandon resident Julian Cranwell. GBC will be defending their action.
