The body, found in the River Wey at Guildford on Monday, April 11, has been formally identified as missing kayaker Grant Broster.

Police officers were called to the area near the Waterside Centre just after 6pm after a report that a man’s body had been found. Mr Broster’s family was notified at the time.

An extensive search, involving numerous agencies, was carried out for 56-year-old Mr Broster after his kayak overturned in the River Wey on Monday, 28 March.

In a statement Surrey Police said: “The Coroner has been informed of Mr Broster’s death, which will now be the subject of an inquest.”

God bless Grant Broster. I am not sure but think the boat in picture is Swingbridge. I painted it once for the National Trust in 2009. I think Grant was there, so familiar.

His loving family now have closure. May he rest in peace.
