To celebrate the launch of his latest book, Lost Guildford, join local writer and historian David Rose for an entertaining talk with a selection of the photos featured in the book.

The event is taking place in the Back Room of the Star Inn, Quarry Street, Guildford on Tuesday, January 28, starting at 7.30pm.

The talk will feature some of the stories behind the images in the book – that include a chapter as a tribute to the late Dave Salmon, featuring a good selection of his fantastic Guildford photographs.

David will also be taking a look at some of the many Guildford history books that have been published over the past 40-odd years, that include ones he has written and co-written, as well as those by others who have a passion for the town’s history. How many have you got?

David will be signing copies of Lost Guildford, published by Amberley, for £13. (£2 off usual retail price).

The evening is free to enter and there will be an interval. It is being hosted by Ben Darnton of Ben’s Collectors Records Shop. He says: “So buy a few drinks from our kind hosts at the Star and if you wish drop a few gold coins in the glass we’ll pass round to cover the speaker’s costs.”

Not only does Ben stock a huge collection of used vinyl and CDs in his shop, he also hosts the popular Facebook page Guildford Past & Present.

Is it possible to buy this book, as we now live in Grantham?

David Rose replies: Lost Guildford is available through bookshops, on-line, and from the UK publishers Amberley.
