Guildford Spectrum and Ash Manor Sports Centre will re-open their doors on Monday, April 12, after the third, and hopefully last lockdown. Guildford Lido has already opened (March 29).
Freedom Leisure that operates the centres on behalf of Guildford Borough Council said most activities will be available including gym, swimming, racket sports and children’s swimming lessons. Group exercise classes will not be available but should recommence in May, subject to government guidelines.
The service delivery director at Guildford Borough Council, Ian Doyle, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming residents back to our leisure centres.
“Keeping fit, active and healthy is extremely important for all ages. It will be great to see our sports communities take steps towards coming back together again as we continue along the government’s roadmap to recovery.
“Thank you to everyone involved for their hard work to thoroughly prepare the centres with social distancing measures and cleaning to ensure that both staff and residents are kept safe.”
The managing director of Freedom Leisure, Ivan Horsfall Turner, said: ”We look forward to seeing everyone using their local leisure centre again. The teams can’t wait to get back to providing our local communities with opportunities for exercise, activity and the chance to socialise safely.”
