I want to say how grateful we are for The Guildford Dragon NEWS online newspaper. It has become one of the bookmarks we look at almost daily, mostly to keep up to date with the various decisions currently being considered, made (or deferred) by GBC [Guildford Borough Council].
You certainly came on the scene at the right moment to highlight where GBC was going badly wrong under its previous leadership. Your presence at the GVG [Guildford Vision Group] and GBC meetings this week has resulted in residents receiving important information quickly and has highlighted the fact that the new and vastly improved GBC leadership is listening. If residents are informed they will take more interest in their town and surrounds. Brilliant!
Printed media published weekly cannot keep up. We have decided to abandon it in favour of reading The Dragon online. Anyway, we prefer the quality of your reporting.

I heartily endorse everything said in this letter about The Guildford Dragon NEWS and take delight in seeing it flourish and grow. But I do take issue with you on your decision to abandon the printed media.
If many other people follow your lead it could rapidly lead to the demise of an important medium of information, comment and discussion that is vital to our local democracy. Yes, I am biased, having reached Fleet Street via excellent experience gained in local journalism in Guildford, but I would prefer everyone to support and encourage as many different journalistic enterprises as possible because healthy competition improves them all – and we all benefit from this.
None of which takes anything away from the wise comment that The Dragon’s appearance and success is “Brilliant”.
