From past experience as a former chairman of the Guildford Conservative Constituency Association I know how difficult it is to recruit suitable candidates to serve as councillors.

The present association chairman has written that such people are expected: “…to put local people before party  politics.”

From your paper’s reports this would seem to be a new departure for it does not seem to be the case over the current green belt altercation.

It is really not possible to serve two masters
