It seems that there will soon be a lengthy closure of Broadford Road between Shalford and Peasmarsh, for bridge repairs.
Overlapping this work is a closure of Trunley Heath Road, for yet another attempt to get the signage right for the narrow bridge.
To get to Godalming, for instance, one will either have to go into Guildford, or use the narrow lanes through Munstead and so on.
The traffic through Shalford has been chaotic lately, but won’t be a patch on what’s to come.
A spokesperson for Surrey County Council said: “The works on Trunley Heath Road have not yet been approved and won’t be until the works on A248 Broadford Road are completed, so as to avoid any clash.”

That’s a nuisance. What about picking up children from Broadford school who live in Chilworth?

Get used to it. They’ve not even made a start at Dunsfold yet.

I think it’s great that the local council allows roadworks that restrict flow of traffic to Guildford through Artington via Broadford Road at the exact same time that we get a contra flow down on Shalford Road.
Restricting two main routes at the same time causes chaos. Do the planning people actually “plan” these things?
