Letter: Thanks for Pragmatic and Sensible Approach to Road Project

Published on: 10 Apr, 2024

From: Jim Allen
I am writing to publicly express my gratitude to Cllr George Potter (Lib Dem, Guildford East) and those others involved for their acknowledgment of and attention to the concerns raised by the Burpham community regarding the Clay Lane project.
Although there was a failure to provide the required 14-day notification prior to the commencement of the work, I would like to commend the implementation of the 10am to 3pm work schedule with traffic lights. This arrangement demonstrated a good understanding of the traffic volume and patterns on this road.
I hope that this pragmatic and sensible approach will continue to be employed in future projects.
Thanks to them for their attention to this matter.

Jim Allen is very kind indeed, but on this one I think the credit goes very much to the streetworks team at Surrey who did a great job of figuring out how to minimise the impact of working on such a vital route in and out of Burpham. Long may it continue!

George Potter is the Lib Dem borough councillor for Burpham
