See: Senior Council Delegation to Sign New Twinning Agreement in China
I went to Freiburg with my wife and kids last month and Guildford is one of twelve of its twin towns from every corner of the globe.
It is a functional town with frequent trams running through to the busy town centre and I would recommend a visit if you fancy a tour of Europe.
The large medieval cathedral takes centre stage and every street has a fast flowing, narrow streams running beside the pavements.
I did take a picture of our town flag and unfortunately had to peal a political sticker off of the plaque, this was nothing against Guildford as all of the other flagstaffs were similarly defaced.
I am unsure, do I qualify for a travel grant from GBC?

I’ve been to Freiburg too. It is a very nice town which, aside from having a joined up transport infrastructure, is similar to Guildford, so I get the twinning relationship.
What I don’t understand is the proposed tie up with Dongying in China, which is primarily home to the second largest oil field in China.
Why did GBC decide on Dongying? Where are the synergies?
Have we discovered oil in the green belt? Is this another Executive secret?
Maybe it’s to glean an understanding of the long term effects of ignoring air quality issues, or maybe it’s an opportunity for the university to flog it’s Blackwell Farm buy to let portfolio, off plan?
And if this little jolly is only costing £5,000 all in, I need to speak to GBC’s travel department to book my next holiday.
