Guildford Labour campaign manager
In response to: Will Guildford Be Part of a Lib Dem & Labour Non-aggression Pact?
The Conservatives are in power because they won a majority of seats in the last general election.
Thinking wishfully, one can see how adding up all the other voters would make for an anti-Conservative vote.
But if you wish to run a country, you need a clear view of what you are for.
I vote Labour because I have faith in collectivity, fairer distribution of wealth, stripping out unearned privilege, common ownership, and a social commitment to equality.
I don’t want to vote Lib Dem because in government, they behave pretty much like Conservatives, though they do display more guilt afterwards.
It’s all too easy to say what one is against, but that’s not enough to govern. You have to know what you are for.

In a first past the post system, voting for what you are for can often mean that you never get it. Will Labour commit to supporting PR so that talk of pacts and tactical voting is not necessary?
How is it fair that in the last election, Conservatives got 11 per cent more of the vote than Labour but 25 per cent more of the seats? Likewise, the Lib Dems and Greens are negatively affected but the SNP get a massive amount of influence for just 4 per cent of the national vote.
