Despite some wet weather on Sunday (September 8), Guildford Lions’ annual fun runs at Hatchlands, East Clandon, were a great success.
The 10k and 5k runs were raising funds for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and Guildford Lions’ Club’s Welfare Fund.
Special guests included Guildford MP Anne Milton, Olympic silver medallist Roger Black and the Deputy Mayor of Guildford, David Elms and his wife Wendy.
BHF Guildford branch chairman Shirley West said: “It was great to have Anne and Roger running and David and Wendy Elms who were wonderful. They stayed all day even in that awful weather!” Her comments were endorsed by Tom Kelso of the Guildford Lions’ Club.
Results of the runs were:
10k event : First male and overall winner – Dave Rollins. First female – Susanna Harrison.
5k event : First male and overall winner Patrick Martin. First female – Hollie Earlam.
