Applications are now open for the latest round of the EM3 Future Fund.

Enterprise M3 (EM3) is looking to support new innovative capital projects across Hampshire and Surrey through its loan and grant scheme, The Future Fund.

Up to £10 million of capital funding is available for projects focusing on innovation, achieving Net Zero by 2050, digital connectivity, and green or digital skills. Projects can range from demonstrators and pilots, to requests for seed funding as well as larger capital schemes.

The aim of The Future Fund is to help EM3, which is a Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), to deliver its vision for a low-carbon, high-growth economy, by supporting a small number of high-quality projects.

The LEP is looking to assist growing businesses, help drive economic growth and create new or safeguard jobs. It also seeks to promote inward investment into the EM3 region, provide CO2 savings and enable new learning or learning spaces.

EM3 is looking for high-quality applications for The Future Fund from businesses, business support organisations, universities and colleges, plus public sector organisations, including local authorities, as well as the third sector, such as registered charities, community groups and social enterprises.

The application process for the current round of funding is open until 12 noon on 15 September, by when a draft business case should be submitted using a template which can be downloaded from the EM3 website.

Stephen Martin, managing director of Enterprise M3 said: “We are very much looking forward to receiving some exciting and innovative submissions from growing businesses and organisations that will help drive economic growth and make a positive difference to the EM3 region.

“As we are accepting applications for a limited time, I would urge those interested to ensure their submissions are made before the 15 September deadline.”

I find all this sadly depressing, who are the LEP, how are they accountable to the people of Guildford, where have they found £10m to distribute, is this tax payer money.
I might be completely wrong but I’m guessing this is central Govt ( tax payers money), but why not give it to the local council, so they can make the decisions?
