Local Independent Shop Michael Chell Raises Money For Shooting Stars Hospice

Independent designer menswear retailer Michael Chell has raised nearly £2,000 and counting for the local charity, Shooting Star Chase, the Children’s Hospice Care charity.

Alex Redmonds, director of the Michael Chell Guildford branch, said “We have used our Christmas window display money to buy traditional wind-up tin toys for sale for charity. It is a great way to raise money for Shooting Star Chase.”

The wind-up tin toys are being sold by Michael Chell, the designer menswear shop in Guildford, to raise money for Shooting Star Chase, the Children’s Hospice.

The shop, and its sister shop in Windsor, has been raising money for charity at Christmas for about eight years. Each year has a different theme. This year’s tin toys have proved to be very popular.

Most of the toys have been sold already but there are some left to buy.

The window display in the Michael Chell shop has won an Experience Guildford award.

The toys are left in the shop window until Christmas Eve when they can be collected. The ‘sold’ label on the toy has a name of either for the lucky person who will receive it or, very poignantly, a dedication for a loved one.

“We are delighted that Experience Guildford have given us an award this year for our window display” added Mr Redmonds.

“But the most important thing is the money raised for the fantastic, local charity, Shooting Star Chase. We can only give a heartfelt thanks to our customers for their support.”
