Guildford’s MP and Minister of State for Apprenticeships and Skills Anne Milton MP visited a local nursery to meet the next generation training to be childcare providers.
Caring Daycare nursery, in Gill Avenue, near the Royal Surrey County Hospital, is part of the Busy Bees group and provides on the job training for learners from BB Training Academy.
During the tour, Ms Milton spoke with learners about their roles and how the course has helped them progress and achieve their personal aims. She also saw first-hand the impact the staff’s training has on the children’s learning and development.
Anne was introduced to the learners by Fay Gibbin, newly appointed chief executive officer of BB Training Academy, which is in the 2% of UK training providers rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.
Fay said: “We are really grateful that Anne took time out of her busy schedule to visit a handful of our learners in their working environment. It was a great reward for our hardworking learners to have a chance to speak to someone who has so much influence on apprenticeships.
“As we all work together to make sure we are giving learners the best guidance, education and opportunity to develop themselves, visits like these provide valuable feedback not only for our courses, but for apprenticeships as a whole.”
Anne Milton said; “It was a pleasure to meet learners at Caring Daycare nursery at Guildford. It’s fantastic to see their enthusiasm and passion for their roles, and how their development and learning is having a real impact on the children. It was also great to meet some apprentices.
“Apprenticeships are vitally important to diversify the ways we are training and teaching people throughout the UK. It’s clear to see that the apprenticeships and courses from BB Training Academy being studied by members of the team, are having a really positive impact on the learners, the children and Caring Daycare nursery as a whole. I’d like to thank Fay and all the team for their hospitality during the day.”
BB Training Academy currently oversees more than 2,000 learners in childcare, management and catering apprenticeships, as well as 20 short-term Learning & Development courses.
