Guildford-based performer Majella Yorston will be playing a set on The Boileroom Accoustic Stage at Staycation 2014 in Godalming this Sunday.
Now in its fourth year, Staycation Live is a free entry family event held at Godalming’s Phillips’ Memorial Park and other venues in the town.
It is run by promoters TST Live alongside Godalming Town Council. Nearly 4,000 people flock to the event each year to catch the fantastic live music and Majella will be opening The Boileroom Stage in Phillips’ Memorial Park at noon on Sunday.
Fresh from the success of sets at both GuilFest and at the Guildford Fringe Festival, Majella can’t wait to take to the stage at Staycation.
It’s been a busy summer for her. She has recently returned from Ireland where she’s been working on material for a new album. She describes her style as an “eclectic mix of country, folk and ballads” and people are often surprised by the deep rich tones of her voice.
“I can sing much deeper than people expect so I have a tendency to surprise people,” she laughs.
‘This means I can sing a wide range of styles either with backing or just me with my guitar. I don’t really like to be pigeon-holed so I always promise people a varied programme.”
Once the summer is over Majella is looking forward to another trip to Ireland and spending time working on the album.
She added: “I love to perform and I love to be busy so 2014 has shaped up very well so far. I look forward to finding out what the rest of this year and the next will bring!”
