The main road between Guildford and Godalming may be closed between 8pm and 6.30am, commencing this evening (9 July) to allow resurfacing.
The local stretch of road affected commences by Ye Olde Ship Inn in St Catherine’s and continues for 2½ miles through Peasmarsh to the boundary with Waverley borough, just beyond the New Pond Road roundabout (see map below).
The project manager, stated: “These works form part of a larger scheme to resurface the A3100 from Guildford through Godalming and into Milford.
“The Artington section of the A3100 will commence tomorrow night (July 9) under a road closure and diversion 20:00 – 06:30 for a duration of ten nights, weather permitting. Access to residents will be maintained but will be subject to delay.”
The work is being carried out by Surrey County Council who describe the work as: “Plane out 100mm (4 inches) and resurfacing with binder and surface course.”
Potholes and broken surfaces have been appearing with increased regularity over the last year, especially on some on the roundabouts, and some local residents have been calling for maintenance work to be carried out.
