Man Robbed and Left Unconscious After Night Out

police vestSurrey Police is appealing for witnesses following a report of a suspected assault and robbery on a man in Guildford in the early hours of Sunday, July 3.

The incident is reported to have happened between midnight and 2am on Mary Road near the junction with Laundry Road in Guildford, near Guildford police station and the Crown Court.

The man, who is in his late 40s, from Woking, is believed to have been assaulted, suffering injuries to his ear and eye and was left unconscious. He is also believed to have had some of his personal belongings stolen.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Anthony Gravener said: “We want to speak to anyone that may have seen the victim before the reported incident or may have seen the assault take place.

“We would also like to speak to anyone that may have helped the victim after the assault to come forward with any information they have that may help with the ongoing investigation.”

Officers are currently reviewing CCTV of the surrounding area, particularly near Guildford County Court, the car park next to Bedford Road and along Mary Road.
