More authors were confirmed today, July 27 (2018), to be featuring in the line-up for Guildford Book Festival.
Organisers of the festival made the announcement alongside the release of more tickets for the event, which will take place in venues across the town between October 7 and 14.
Professional dancer and television presenter Anton Du Beke, whose debut novel, One Enchanted Evening, is set to release in October, will join the line-up. So too will Professor Noel Fitzpatrick, a veterinarian whose work has featured in the TV serials The Bionic Vet on BBC One and The Supervet on Channel 4.
The new additions to the line-up also include author Patrick Gale, who will be at the festival with his new book, Take Nothing With You; cricketer James Taylor, whose promising career was cut short at 26 years old after being diagnosed with a serious heart condition; and Gill Sims, author of Why Mummy Swears and upcoming sequel, Why Mummy Drinks.
Two of the newly announced speakers will be of interest to historians. Naval historian Jim Ring will be discussing the pivotal role of the navy in the First World War, to mark the centenary of Armistice; while anthologist Ana Sampson will explore the history of female poetry, and will give readings from poets including Carol Ann Duffy, Maya Angelou, and Emily Dickinson.
