On Wednesday May 26, at 7.30pm local historian and author David Rose will be giving his illustrated talk Guildford’s Lost Shops via Zoom as a charity fundraising event for Guildford Lions Club to support our local community.
Access to the Zoom link is just £5.
David says: “Guildford has changed from being a small market town to a regional centre. This change is reflected in the High Street with its famous granite setts and also North Street.
“My talk includes many photographs from the late 19th century and on through the 20th century of family run shops that once prevailed and the national multiples as they arrived.
“Some people may have heard this talk before, as it’s a popular one that I have given to many local groups and societies. However, I will be updating it this time with further pictures I have recently added to my collection.
“And I can now include Debenhams as well, as it’s just closed for the last time!”
Following the talk there will be time for questions and comments.
To register, please send an email to guildfordlions@btinternet.com and payment methods, by bank transfer or PayPal or by cheque, will be sent to you by return.
You will be sent the Zoom link 24 hours before the talk.
If you do not already have access to Zoom please download the app by visiting https://zoom.us/download prior to the talk.
