The Family Gardening Festival is back at RHS Garden Wisley this May half term with a variety of gardening-themed activities set to entertain.
Half term activities at Wisley will include an interactive Music Maze playground, with percussion instruments made from entirely recycled materials, wildlife-themed sculptures from the Surrey Sculpture Park, microscopes for visitors to take a close look at tropical butterflies, woodlice and ladybirds and a ‘Goose’ Trail, encouraging children to go on an adventure with the lovable Goose character, featured in Laura Wall’s series of books, to look for birds and shapes in the clouds and to splash in puddles.
From Saturday, May 25 to Monday, May 27, there will also be a variety of wildlife-themed activities, including mini pond, making demonstrations, a lion and tiger LEGO® ‘make and take’ workshop, RSPB bird spotting walks, and on Sunday, May 26 and Monday, May 27 there will be a bookable ‘Goose’ reading and drawing workshop with author and illustrator Laura Wall.
On Tuesday, May 28 and Wednesday, May 29, there will be flower-power themed activities, including forest bathing, seed sowing, pot decorating, and floral arrangement workshops by renowned florist Jonathon Moseley, with a Tudor-inspired twist.
From Thursday, May 30 to Sunday, June 2, there will be plot-to-plate themed activities to inspire young visitors to get hands-on in the mud kitchen and mini sensory gardens, and bookable ‘Grow, Cook, Enjoy!’ workshops.
Throughout the week, RHS Garden Wisley will host local societies, such as Surrey Bees, the National Vegetable Society and the Hedgehog Society, who will be sharing inspiring information and providing fun activities.
Belinda Betts, Head of Site at RHS Garden Wisley, said: “The Family Gardening Festival provides the perfect opportunity for families to get back to nature. Here at RHS Garden Wisley, we have planned a whole host of green-fingered inspired fun to encourage everyone to discover the benefits of gardening and spending time together in the great outdoors.”
Normal garden entry applies. Events and activities are suitable for all the family.
