Notice: Fundraising Supper And Talk For TALK

Published on: 9 Aug, 2017
Updated on: 9 Aug, 2017

A fish and chip supper and a talk by TV’s Rupert Matthews will take place on Saturday, October 7 at St Catherine’s Hall.

The evening aims to raise funds for the Surrey-based charity TALK.

Rupert Matthews, the popular historian, and TV consultant to BBC’s Bargain Hunt, will give an illustrated presentation entitled Monsters at the Movies.

Doors will open at 6.30pm and supper (main course plus dessert) will be served at 7pm. The talk will follow at 8pm. A bar will be available.

TALK supports stroke recoverers with aphasia. About 130,000 people in Britain have a stroke each year and it is generally accepted that a third of these are left with some form of aphasia. Aphasia can affect the ability to speak, read, write and understand what is being said and impacts on the individual’s confidence, personal relationships, employment and social life.
It is one of the most enduring consequences of stroke and can be the most difficult to overcome.

St Catherine’s Hall is in Chestnut Avenue, Guildford, GU2 4HF. Tickets for the event cost £12 and can be bought in advance.
