Notice: Guildford Lions Club Presents 2016 Firework Fiesta.

With November 5 falling on a Saturday this year, Guildford Lions has scheduled its annual torchlight procession and firework display to start at 8pm, 30 minutes earlier than usual, to allow families with younger children to enjoy the event.

guildford-lionsTorches for the procession will be sold for £5 each from the Guildhall between 6pm and 6.45pm. After the mayor has addressed the crowd at 6.45pm, the procession will leave the High Street for Stoke Park at 7pm.

From 6.30pm, Eagle Radio’s Peter Gordon will provide a commentary of the event from the park. Charlie Mayne’s Fun Fair will be present as usual.

After the beacon is lit at 7.55pm, the display will start at 8pm.

This year, Guildford Lions will be collecting for the charity Headway Surrey that provides support and services for those affected by brain injury. Details of Headway can be found at http://www.headwaysurrey.org.

Entry to the Firework Fiesta is by a suggested donation of £5 per person, or £10 for a family.

From 6pm until 9.30pm, free parking will be available at either The Spectrum, Parkway, GU1 1UP or Guildford College, Stoke Road, GU1 1EZ. Disabled parking for blue badge holders will be available at Guildford High School, London Road, GU1 1SJ.

Supporting the Firework Fiesta this year are Radical Systems, Chapters Financial, Lloyds Bank, Guildford Borough Council, the Surrey Advertiser, Eagle Radio, Ewbank Auctioneers, Memset, Big Yellow and The Guildford Dragon NEWS.
