Having held its most successful Firework Fiesta at Stoke Park in 2016 and been honoured with a civic reception hosted by the Mayor at the Guildhall, Guildford Lions is planning to celebrate its 50th anniversary in style.
Members will undertake their most ambitious project to date, holding a concert at G Live in Guildford, with all proceeds being donated to Shooting Star Chase to support the charity’s work with terminally ill children at its hospice, Christopher’s, in Artington.
Last Night of the Spring Proms will take place on Saturday, May 6 at 7.30pm.
The concert promises to be an exhilarating event with the Southern Pro Musica orchestra and Guildford Choral Society providing an evening of orchestral and choral favourties, including Beethoven’s Emperor Piano Concerto No 3, played by piano virtuoso Nikolai Demidenko.
There will be music by Rossini and Bizet, opera choruses by Verdi and plenty of opportunity to join in with traditional Proms favourites such as Rule Britannia, Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory.
Tickets cost between £20 and £30. For more information and to book, visit GLive.co.uk or call 01483 369350.
