To get some answers about Guildford’s finances, The Guildford Society (supported by Guildford Residents’ Assocation) will be hosting an open meeting where Guildford Borough Council officers will talk about the financial challenges faced by GBC.
The meeting will take place on Thursday, October 27 at 7.30pm (doors open 7pm) at the Trinity Centre, Trinity Churchyard.
As the level of central government support to local authorities has been reduced over recent years, local authorities must make efficiency savings, continuing to deliver services with fewer resources. A presentation on Juggling the Books – Delivering Services with Fewer Resources will be given by Sue Sturgeon, managing director of GBC and Claire Morris, the council’s deputy chief financial officer.
Their talk will explain how the council copes with these reforms and restraints, how it taps into new funding in order to achieve its 10-year strategic vision (including North Street’s re-development), investment in new social housing, improving transport infrastructure, and much more.
All are welcome to attend. There is no charge, but donations to The Guildford Society are invited.
