Guildford Cathedral remains a worshipping community, despite the closure of the building.
Meditations and services continue to be published on YouTube and the Cathedral website. The three ‘great days’ of the Easter celebration begin on Maundy Thursday, April 9, at 7pm and continues on Good Friday and Holy Saturday, concluding with the celebration of the resurrection on Easter Day at 10am.
The Dean of Guildford, The Very Reverend Dianna Gwilliams, says: “The current challenges have encouraged creativity as we have continued to pray and worship together using media which is new or unfamiliar to some. Home Worship is our way of remaining Open to All and Open to God together.”
Everyone can join in through Facebook and Twitter or on the Home Worship page of the cathedral’s website https://www.guildford-cathedral.org/.
Services over the coming days are:
Maundy Thursday, April 9, from 7.00pm – Eucharist, Commemoration of the Last Supper and Reflection.
Good Friday, April 10, from 12pm until 3pm – Good Friday Readings, music and reflection and the Good Friday Liturgy.
Easter Day, Sunday, April 12 at 10am – Celebration of the Resurrection with readings, music and Holy Communion. Preacher – The Bishop of Guildford, The Right Reverend Andrew Watson.
The Cathedral will continue to publish a Sunday morning service at 9.45am each Sunday during the period of restrictions.
Engagement with the Cathedral’s social media platforms comes from across Surrey and North East Hampshire, including Woking, Godalming, Farnham, Aldershot and Farnborough.
