With pulsating Latin rhythms, live tango dancers, and a Rio Carnival atmosphere, Guildford Symphony Orchestra’s Tango Fiesta’will explode into life at 7.30pm on Saturday, May 20, at G Live.
GSO promises musical fireworks in a concert which includes Ravel’s Bolero and dances from West Side Story, Piazolla’s Grand Tango and Libertango and Gershwin’s Cuban Rumba.
The evening will feature tango dancers from the Guildford School of Acting and the Sambadrome Drummers.
Russian-born soloist Liubov Ulybysheva will perform a special tango for cello, originally commissioned for Rostropovich, as she makes a welcome return to Guildford, following performances across Russia and with many major British orchestras.
The concert will support the GASP Motor Project. Based in Albury, GASP provide hands-on courses in basic motor mechanics and practical engineering for young people aged between 14 and 19 years of age and aims to fire the imagination of students who struggle with mainstream education.
Tickets for the concert cost from £15. For more information and to book tickets visit www.g-s-o.org.uk or call the GSO Box Office on 01483 415847 or call the G Live Box Office on 01483 369350.
