Motorists are being invited to leave their cars at home on Sunday, September 26 and experience a traffic-free town.
From 10am to 4.30pm, the town centre will be transformed, featuring market stalls, street food and a farmers’ market.
There will be live music from local groups and street play for children and information about how residents can step up their actions to tackle climate change, leave the car at home and use alternative forms of transport, such as walking, cycling and public transport.
As part of the event, family-owned Safeguard Coaches will be offering free travel for accompanied children (aged five to 16 inclusive) on its bus service from Park Barn, Southway and Woodbridge Hill to Guildford town centre.
Buses start at 8am and run until 10.30pm, with a bus every 15 minutes during shopping hours.
Routes 4 & 5 serve the Friary bus station. The maximum return fare for an adult is £2.70, less than the cost of parking in such a central location.
Use Route 5 to get into town and Route 4 to get back home – full details of journey opportunities are at www.guildfordbus.co.uk/timetables or from 01483 561103.
