Notice: ‘The Room in the Elephant’ – Calling All Mathematicians And Maths Teachers

Come along to hear Dr Chris Pritchard, editor of the journal Mathematics in School and current Chair of the Scottish Mathematical Council, speaking on ‘The Room in the Elephant’.

He will talk about many aspects of the area, but not the aspects found in textbooks.

Expect a whirlwind tour of some unfamiliar results and of some familiar results demonstrated by unfamiliar methods, and with plenty of quirkiness thrown in.

The event will be held at The Guildford Institute in Ward Street on Thursday, October 25 at 7pm.

The talk will be followed by a brief meeting to discuss starting a local group which can link up mathematics teachers for the exchange of resources and teaching ideas.

Bring a USB stick for an initial sample of free maths teaching resources.
