Perhaps you could try something new and discover what’s on offer at the Guildford Institute in Ward Street?
With courses for adults, a programme of talks, day trips and special events, autumn term at the Guildford Institute will offer ample opportunities for you to expand your knowledge, learn new skills and indulge your senses.
In addition to the Institute’s usual varied mix of courses, some new courses and tutors have been introduced to the programme.
New options are Tai Chi and Pilates under the Health and Well-Being category, which also includes yoga, mindfulness and meditation sessions.
A new Art Interpretation course with tutor Jane Chapman will help students to get more out of visits to art galleries.
Regular favourites will also be on offer, including the ever-popular art history courses, practical art sessions, and much more.
Highlights of the events and visits programme will include a coach trip to Quebec House and Chartwell and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of a close-up look at the magnificent painted ceiling of the Royal Naval College in Greenwich.
A special event will take place on Thursday, October 12, when stage and screen actress Virginia McKenna will share her experience of working on the film Born Free and the creation of the Born Free Foundation.
The institute will continue to celebrate its 125th anniversary with a showing of Grandad’s Guildford – a Circle Eight Film Group production which vividly illustrates the history of the town since 1860.
Also on offer are free-to-attend weekly Wednesday talks and Tuesday evening young musician’s recitals.
Bookings are now being taken for Christmas lunches in December. Expect great vegetarian festive food, a raffle and a fun quiz.
