An online auction has been launched to support children and their families with hard living conditions around Surrey and Hampton.

Supported by celebrities such as Keira Knightley and high profiled designers such as Jimmy Choo, the auction was launched at the “One Good Thing Fashion Evening” event at the Lounge in Twickenham Film Studio on July, 12. It closes on Sunday (July 22, 2018)

100% of the profits are to be donated to the hospices Christopher’s in Guildford and Shooting Star House in Hampton.

The campaign aims to enhance people to donate items to their local Shooting Star Chase charity shop as a way to help raise money for the service they provide.

Since the 90s,  Shooting Star Chase, based in Artington, is a leading children’s hospice charity, caring for children, from newborns to youngster, in difficult times. It supports them from diagnosis to end of life with therapies, symptom management and support group for the whole family.

The medical and emotional care Chase offers is free of charge and available 365 days a year. But this kind of support, for 700 families, costs £10 million a year. Only 10% of this sum comes from government funding which is why the charity relies on people’s generosity for its survival.

The contributions from local supporters and celebrities, such as Kerry Nixon and Keira Knightley, help to raise awareness of the charity’s work.

Knightley, who donated a dress, commented: “The work Shooting Star Chase does is extraordinary. If everyone spent just five minutes going through their wardrobes to find one pre-loved item to take into their local store the charity would benefit greatly.”

Many of the donated items are available to be bid on the online auction at the Shooting Star Chase eBay page until 8pm Sunday, 22nd of July.

Among all, items from Burberry, Jimmy Choo, Alexa Chung and many more can be bid on at a low price.

As the charity’s work is almost entirely based on donations, anything you give is of great help to families in need and will make a huge difference in years to come.
