Photo Feature: The Castle Grounds During 2022’s Hot, Dry Summer

Guildford Castle Grounds, summer 2022.

Guildford Castle Grounds looks in remarkably good shape this summer (2022), despite the extreme heat and with little rain at all.

There’s colour in the flower beds despite the dry yellow / brown grass.

These delightful photos have been taken by young photographer Danielle West and record a summer that may well be remembered for a long time, just like the summer of 1976, that was also a scorcher!

The Alice Through The Looking Glass statue.

Admittidely, the grass is yellow / brown and parched, like most lawns and fields. However, with careful watering the flower beds, as always, look beautiful.

Dry in the foreground, greener in the trees and bushes.

Credit is alway due to Guildford Borough Council’s parks and countryside team!

The war memorial to those who have died in conflict since the Second World War.

Not a lot of shade for those playing bowls.

A view of the keep nicely framed by foliage.

Parched grass by the ancient walls.
