Wednesday June 4. On a very wet evening, Castle Green Bowling Club (CGBC) lost away at Westfield by 25-36.  The game was abandoned due to heavy rain after 10 ends.

CGBC teams were:

Shirley West (skip) John Reeves and Luynn Smith, 15-4
Brian West (skip) Jim Horwood and Mary Reeves, 3-11

Saturday June 7. After a thundery night and a rainy morning, the sun came out around noon and the greens began to dry out, so by 2.30pm CGBC was able to play an away game against East Horsley, which they lost despite winning on two out of three rinks, by 39-53.
CGBC teams were:
Derek Redgwell (skip), John Reeves and John Heyes , 13-12
Colin Summerhayes (skip) Mary Reeves and Lynn Smith 20-15
Mary Redgwell (skip) Peter Smith and Diana Summerhayes, 6-26.

Sunday June 8, was the day of the annual Millennium Cup game between the CGBC and Astolat BC. The weather was lovely –  hot and sunny, with at least one of the CGBC men playing in shorts. It was a big turnout, with four teams from each side playing a rinks game (two bowls each). Both sides fielded some beginners, getting them into the spirit of playing a team game. All did well. CGBC lost by just 11 shots or an average of three per rink. It was a  close and enjoyable game played in the usual friendly spirit.

CGBC’s teams were:
Rob Williams  (skip), Hilary Vogel, Nick Hinde and Pauline May, 17-17
Colin Summerhayes (skip) Jim Horwood, Ann B eiley and Tim Sampson, 18-22
Jill Bird (skip), Diana Summerhayes, Alan Wilson and Patrick Andrew, 18-23
Hazel Tappenden (skip), Julie hinde, Dorothy Newman and Fran Webster, 19-21.
