A hospital has warned that two months of roadworks, lane restrictions, and overnight closures could cause delays for patients and visitors.

It has led to the trust advising patients of Frimley Park Hospital  to “please allow extra travel time”.

Surrey County Council contractors will be working on the A325 Portsmouth Road until the end of August, weather permitting.

Posting on the hospital trust’s site, the county council  said: “Access will be maintained to all properties during our works, there may be times when there are delays but the team will advise.

“Working overnight is necessary on traffic sensitive roads to reduce disruption during peak times.

“It also enables longer uninterrupted working before the closure is lifted for daytime traffic, and results in a shorter period of disruption.

“There will be some noise, but we will try to carry out the bulk of the noisiest works before midnight.”

The Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust said: “If you are attending an appointment at the hospital please allow extra travel time.”

The work is set to run until August 30 but could be delayed by bad weather, during which time the council will put in place lane restrictions on Portsmouth Road and Chobham Road between 10am and 4pm.

Portsmouth Road to the north east of the hospital roundabout will then be closed between 8pm and 6am during the final two weeks of the project, the council said, with diversions in place.

The work will feature safety improvements including a signalised pedestrian crossing, widening of footways, surfacing, kerbing and road marking changes, they hope will make it safer for pedestrians to cross the A325 Portsmouth Road.
