Plenty Of Action In The Sun For Castle Green Bowlers

In the Mens’ Tuesday Triples League, Castle Green Bowling Club (CGBC) lost to Burpham  on Tuesday, July 30, the score being 23-38.

Brian West’s team of Norman Pilkington and Paul Plummer lost by 9-20; Colin Summerhayes’ team with Terry Smith and Rob Williams lost by 14-18.

The CGBC men lost narrowly again, by 26-32, to Guildford ‘A’ team on Tuesday August 6. Playing were Brian West (skip) Colin Summerhayes (playing for Terry Smith, who had hurt his back) and Rob Helliwell; and Rob Williams (skip) with Paul Plummer and David Newman. Brian’s team lost by four shots, and Rob’s by just two.

In the weekend friendly inter-club games, CGBC managed a win against Ewhurst BC, at Ewhurst, on Sunday, August 3, the score being 72-63.  Jill Bird’s team of  Margret Plummer  and Peter Smith lost by 15-18; Rob Williams’ team of Lynn Smith and Colin Summerhayes lost by 9-23;  Shirley West’s team of Patrick Andrew and Paul Plummer won by 19-13; and Brian West’s team of  Mary Regdwell and Hazel Tappenden won by a scorching 29-9.

On Sunday August 4, Castle Green ladies played in the Tongham Ladies’ Tournament. The picture shows them having fun in the sun!
