Paul Kennedy

The election for the Police & Crime Commissioner for Surrey will be held on Thursday, May 2.

Martin Giles has interviewed all four candidates asking a similar set of questions to allow easier comparison.

One interview will be published each day between Monday, April 22, and Thursday, April 25.

The order of publication was drawn by lot. The second interview to be published is with Paul Kennedy the Liberal Democrat candidate who is a member of the SCC Police & Crime Panel and was the runner-up in the last PCC election.

I’ve now dipped into the four recorded interviews but don’t have time to spend four x (15-20min) playing all four in full, as I must (unusually) get my postal vote off now, because I’m going away just before the election.

It would have been more helpful to have had written text from each candidate that could be skimmed through to pick out the important bits.

So I’ll probably go for the one party person whose literature I’ve received (by email), as their candidate sounds quite a good choice (and is also ok on the bits of video clips I dipped into).

There is still time for those voting in person to read summaries or skim through transcripts of the four interviews and I, for one, would welcome the opportunity. Any chance of making the info available to us to read please, editor?

Editor’s response: Sorry, we only have a very small editorial team and did not have the resource to do this.
