Do you know this man?

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward with information after a teenager was left with a broken nose and requiring dental surgery after a violent and unprovoked attack.

The victim, a 17-year-old student from the local area, was standing outside Guildford railway station on Guildford Park Road with a group of friends when the altercation took place, on Sunday, 2 September.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Tony Bronger said: “This attack took place just after 1am when the teenager became involved in a disagreement with a group of teenage boys.

“The group followed the victim onto the footbridge shouting abuse and one of them punched him in the face, breaking his nose and chipping four teeth, requiring extensive dental treatment.”

As a result of the attack, the victim also suffered a large gash to his right elbow. It is believed the attacker and his accomplices left the station via the rear exit and made off in the direction of the University of Surrey.

Today British Transport Police (BTP) officers have released two images of a man they wish to speak to, as they believe he may hold key information relating to the incident.

DC Bronger added: “This was a frightening assault, which left the victim fearing for his safety.

“We have followed several lines of enquiry in this investigation and now we have released these images in the hope that they will jog the memory of anyone who was in the area at the time.”

Anyone with information is asked to call British Transport Police on freefone 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference B6/LSA of 15/10/12 or independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
