Police in Guildford are urging residents to be vigilant following two burglaries in Duncan Drive, Merrow.
The first incident occurred at around 7.30pm on Thursday September 19 when someone broke into a house and stole a wallet containing cash and a set of keys. The intruder disturbed the elderly occupants of the house who were asleep in an upstairs bedroom. When challenged, the offender made off downstairs and out of the front door.
The offender is described as a white man with a cockney accent. He was wearing a dark cap with a peak and a dark jacket with a badge on the left breast.
Later the same evening, at around 8pm, a woman returned home to discover a break-in had occurred and a quantity of cash had been stolen.
Temporary Detective Sergeant Blaine Rafferty said: “This must have been a frightening ordeal for the couple who disturbed the intruder and I would appeal to anyone who has information to contact me so I can progress the investigation and bring the offender to justice. Please call Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference number GD/13/8046.
“I would also urge residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity or vehicles in the area.”
