Do you remember Kath’s Cabin, a café near Ash Vale station that was in business in the 1970s. Do you know “Kath” who used to run the café?
Surrey Police is appealing for information about both as part of an investigation into a serious offence which is alleged to have taken place around 40 years ago.
Detectives are hoping to trace Kath who ran the café in the parade of shops in Vale Road, near Ash Vale railway station, as part of their enquiries into the offence, which took place in 1974.
Kath may be a witness to the offence, but despite numerous enquiries the police have so far drawn a blank.
Detective Sergeant Simon Corke said: “We are really keen to speak to Kath, who was running the café around the time of the offence, as part of our enquiries. The café was later taken on by someone else and became known as Lucy’s Café. It is now an Indian restaurant.
“The only other information we have about Kath is that she went on to become a bus driver and was married to a soldier but later got divorced.
“We are appealing to anyone who knows Kath or has any information about her whereabouts to contact us straightaway. We are also keen to hear from you if you knew anyone else who worked at the café at that time.”
Surrey Police request anyone who may be able to help to call 101, quoting crime reference 45140009292 or, if you would prefer not to leave your name, call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
