Officers from Surrey Police are still waiting to speak to the forty-year-old victim of a serious assault, Peter Hart, from St Catherine’s Village Guildford, who was injured as he made his way home with his family after the Guilfest event last month.

Mr Hart was walking in King’s Road, Guildford with his wife and young child when he was assaulted on Friday, 13 July sometime between 6.30pm and 6.45pm.  He remains at St George’s Hospital in Tooting, where his condition he is now described as being seriously ill but no longer critical.

An investigation into the offence is ongoing and police will speak with Mr Hart at the earliest possible opportunity but in the meantime witnesses are still being asked to come forward.

His wife Nicola said: “It is obviously a relief that Peter is now off the critical list. He has now regained consciousness but it is not yet possible to have a proper conversation with him.

“I would like to give a big thank you to all those who have given me and Peter their best wishes and offers of help. If anyone else can help the police with information I would say please do so.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Surrey Police on 101 quoting Operation Vermillion (GD/12/6309).

Alternatively the independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111.
