With repairs under way on St Catherine’s Footbridge over the River Wey, the person who helped secure funding for the project has been praised.
He is Peter Morris, the North Downs Way National Trail manager, who is based with the Kent AONB unit in Ashford.
Christine Howard, the chairman of the both the Surrey Hill Society and Guildford Walkfest, said: “It is wonderful that the lovely Peter Morris has managed to organise this refurbishment project with Surrey County Council for this important crossing on the North Downs Way National Trail.
“It is such a popular walking area for both short walks around Guildford, as well as for long-distant walkers.
“Peter is working really hard to improve this amazing natural asset. He and his team should be thanked for pulling this all together for us.”
