Furniturelink, the Guildford-based community furniture project, can now collect your bulky waste items with a reduced rate for anyone receiving benefits.
Furniturelink’s director Wendy Watson said: “We never lose sight of what our great little project is here for, collecting your re-useable items of furniture and recycling, refurbishing and re-using it.
“By donating your furniture and white goods to Furniturelink, you will be giving a family on a low income the opportunity of owning a piece of quality furniture.”
The project helps stop landfill and save usable goods from being destroyed. With your kind donations, Furniturelink diverts on average eight tons of furniture from landfill each month.
By donating your furniture to Furniturelink you are giving the volunteers who work there the opportunity to train in retail, logistics, and working in a warehouse environment. Volunteering improves a person’s communication skills and confidence, areas that are so important for anyone who has been long time unemployed or isolated.
Wendy added: “Furniturelink is open to everyone. Anyone can visit our warehouse to grab a bargain from our large range of preloved stock.
“Buying reusable furniture here is a great way to give your house an affordable makeover and is good for the environment. It is a great place to buy an inexpensive piece of furniture for that shabby chic painting project you have always wanted to try.
“We have a 3,000 sq ft unit full of amazing furniture, white goods, electrical items, bric-a-brac, bikes and paint all at fantastic prices.”
