Guildford Choral is hosting the internationally renowned Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Salisbury Musical Society at G Live Saturday, March 19, at 7.30pm.
They will perform Giuseppe Verdi’s most majestic, operatic and deeply moving piece of music – his Requiem.
Jonathan Willcocks, director of music says: “This masterpiece has rightly established itself as one of the most-loved works in the entire choral repertoire. It is a testament to both Verdi’s operatic inspiration and his sacred devotion”.
The choirs will be joined by four superlative soloists. Claire Seaton, soprano, is particularly renowned for her performances of Verdi’s Requiem.
Alison Kettlewell, mezzo soprano, is also known for her performances of this most stunning of Verdi’s works.
Alun Rhys-Jenkins, tenor, is a winner of the W. Towyn Roberts scholarship at the National Eisteddfod of Wales. He joined Welsh National Opera in 2005 since when he has amassed an impressive array of operatic roles.
Michael Pearce, bass-baritone, has performed more than 30 solo roles, including performances at the Royal Opera, London, Kent Opera, Scottish Opera and Oper Bergen, Norway.
The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra is Classic FM’s Orchestra in the South of England. It was formed in 1893 and throughout its illustrious history it has worked with some of the finest composers, conductors and musicians in the world including Elgar, Bartók, Sibelius, Holst, Stravinsky, Vaughan Williams and Sir Thomas Beecham.
