Guildford YMCA has been successfully running its Prince’s Trust Team programme for a number of years. it’s a tried and tested format has seen a huge number of young people go on to find employment or further their education.

The course, which runs over 12 weeks, is designed to challenge, motivate and equip the young people through a number of different activities. These include a week-long residential in Dartmoor, work experience and various projects working for and with the local community.

Young people are often sad to leave the programme at the end of the 12 weeks, having formed lots of new friendships and good memories. A former team member who is now working full time said: “I enjoyed every single day on the course, even when I was feeling upset. I made really nice friends that I never want to forget and I can’t see myself where I am now without the help from the team and the team leaders”.

The next Guildford Prince’s Trust Team starts on November 19 at Plantation Cafe in Market Street. For information on how to apply to join a team call Cassie Cowan on 01483 888122, or visit www.plantationcafe.org.uk/princes-trust

When is the next meeting? and can you join up there for the next twelve-week course?

[Ed: Guildford YMCA’s website does not list Prince’s Trust courses, so it may no longer be running them. Call the ‘Y’ on 01483 532555. Please note: the story you read was first published in 2012.]
